Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Humans

Artificial intelligence is already making a huge impact in the global industry around the world. Key questions have been asked about pros and cons of this power tool which seems to optimize the process of carrying out task in a fast- paced manner. Most Software’s, Engineers, developers and other experienced activist have expressed concerns about AI taking the jobs of humans in the next 2 decades.

Bright side of Ai

Virtual Assistants.- AI virtual assistants like Siri, Alexa and other programs that use natural language processing to understand and perform tasks given by humans are taking off.

Implantable. The wide adoption of brain-machine interfaces will lead to a massive expansion of human intelligence and could allow humans to solve many medical conditions including paralysis, blindness, anxiety and addiction –

Precision Medicine – New models and concepts have seen Artificial intelligence being used to understand how a persons genetic compatibility, lifestyle choices, character transitions etc to determine the best approach to prevent or treat a certain disease.

Dark side of Ai

Udacity CEO Gabe Dalporto told Time that  an estimated billion people will lose their jobs due to AI by 2030 and that the Covid-19 pandemic has only accelerated this trend. In terms of scale, these widespread job losses could rival the move away from agricultural labor during the 1900s in the United States and Europe. Unfortunately, this technological trend is inevitable, and it will likely increase inequality and place power in the hands of a few.

KEY FACTS TO NOTE

  1. Artificial intelligence can never be compared to the human mind
  2. Humans feed the algorithms that enables models to generate feedback and response
  3. Human intelligence. Many psychologists, philosophers and cognitive researchers deem imagination a fundamental human ability. They even go so far as to enshrine imagination as an element of what it means to be human. The quickening tempo of climate catastrophes, growing threats of potentially devastating international conflict and other looming challenges have led to continuous calls for imaginative problem-solving.
  4. By comparison, many researchers agree that artificial intelligence systems recite rather than imagine. Recitation can be understood as recalling information as it was presented. Computer systems are exceptionally well designed to do this. AI systems such as generative AI tools can recite in synthesized forms. When these systems are trained to draw images of various types of automobiles, they are then able to create mashups of the examples from which they learned.

Conclusion

The Uniqueness of human intelligence and our ability to perceive, reason, imagine and create, make us extremely impossible to be compared with new tools such as Artificial intelligence that are created by humans. Software engineers, developers, cloud engineers etc. should believe in themselves and continuously explore to position themselves in this world of fast pacing technological advancement. We must note that learning new things and creating applications is never ending task until we die.
